Overview
University of Phoenix offers a number of institutional scholarships to help make higher education more available for working adults. They also assist students in reaching their educational goals.
The University usually partners with a non-profit organization that helps to promote the scholarship program.
How We Define You: Prospective and Current Students
The Center for Scholarship Excellence (CSE) has scholarship programs for prospective and current students. Every scholarship has unique criteria; review the application carefully to see if you meet the requirements.
Prospective Students
Being a prospective student, means you’re not currently completing a degree program with University of Phoenix:
- You have never attended; or
- You completed the admissions paperwork more than six months ago but never completed the first course; or
- You have not attended a course within the past 365 days
To remain a prospective student, you should not begin the admissions process until after the scholarship award date. The award date is listed on the application.
Current Students- A current student is in the process of completing a degree program with University of Phoenix:
- You are currently enrolled or attending ; or
- You completed the admissions paperwork less than six months ago; or
- You’ve attended a course within the past year

National Programs
These programs are available to applicants nationally. There is no residency requirement to be met. To apply, applicants must meet the eligibility criteria listed in the application.
- Finish Strong℠ Scholarship
Everyone deserves a second chance to realize his or her dreams. At University of Phoenix, we believe that anyone can reach his or her goal of earning a college degree regardless of what has stood in the way. And it all starts with a game plan.
University of Phoenix is ready to help you create that plan. To do so, the University has created the Finish Strong℠ Scholarship because everyone deserves the opportunity to finish what they started when it comes to getting an education. The University is offering sixteen (16) full-tuition scholarships to deserving men and women who are motivated to complete what they started: their degree! Each scholarship will allow a prospective student the opportunity to complete an undergraduate or master’s degree at University of Phoenix, and prepare for the game of life.

Award date: February 16, 2011 - Forever A Phoenix℠ Scholarship
University of Phoenix is excited to announce the Forever A Phoenix℠ Scholarship program. Since 2009, University of Phoenix alumni have proudly proclaimed “I Am A Phoenix.” A Phoenix is someone who has worked hard to get here and is working harder still to improve his/her life and the lives of those around. A Phoenix is someone who is confident, thought provoking, and always true. A Phoenix has defied the odds and overcome adversity to stand triumphant.
Together, with the University of Phoenix Alumni Association, University of Phoenix is providing a scholarship opportunity to its alumni to continue their education. Alumni, who have graduated from any University of Phoenix degree program, are eligible to apply to receive a full- tuition scholarship towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree program of their choice. Through this program, five (5) scholarships will be awarded. Recipients may choose to attend a University of Phoenix on-ground campus or may attend University of Phoenix online. Only the first 300 eligible applications will be considered.
- Manufacturing Institute Scholarship
University of Phoenix is pleased to partner with The Manufacturing Institute (Institute) to offer a scholarship program to manufacturing working learners. The Manufacturing Institute is the 501 (c)(3) affiliate of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM). The Institute is committed to delivering leading-edge information and services to the nation's manufacturers. The Institute focuses on developing human capital strategies through education reform and workforce development, conducting applied research to provide critical information to public policy makers on challenges and opportunities for today's industry, and advancing the innovation capacity of manufacturers operating in a global market.
Through this scholarship program, twenty (20) full-tuition scholarships will be offered. Each scholarship will allow a prospective student the opportunity to complete an undergraduate or master's degree program at University of Phoenix. Recipients may choose to attend a University of Phoenix on-ground campus or may attend University of Phoenix online.

Educare of West DuPage Scholarship (DuPage County, Illinois)
University of Phoenix is pleased to partner with Educare of West DuPage to offer a scholarship program. Educare of West DuPage is the newest Educare center in the Chicago area. Through its intervention program, Educare of West DuPage reaches out to at-risk toddlers and preschoolers, and their families, to provide them with a nurturing and engaging learning environment. Educare of West DuPage is dedicated to helping these children learn the necessary skills to enter kindergarten successfully.
Through this scholarship program, one (1) full-tuition scholarship will be offered. The scholarship will allow a prospective student the opportunity to complete an undergraduate or master's degree program at University of Phoenix. The recipient may choose to attend a University of Phoenix on-ground campus or may attend University of Phoenix online.

Junior Achievement of Chicago Scholarship (Chicago, Illinois)
University of Phoenix is pleased to partner with Junior Achievement® of Chicago to offer a scholarship program. Since being chartered in 1940, Junior Achievement of Chicago has affected more than 2 million people in the Chicagoland area. Through its programs and curriculum, Junior Achievement of Chicago is dedicated to inspiring and preparing young people to succeed in a global economy.
Through this scholarship program, three (3) full-tuition scholarships will be offered. Each scholarship will allow a prospective student the opportunity to complete an undergraduate or master's degree program at University of Phoenix. Recipients may choose to attend a University of Phoenix on-ground campus or may attend University of Phoenix online.

Maricopa Community College Scholarship (Arizona)
The University of Phoenix is pleased to partner with Maricopa Community Colleges to offer a scholarship program. Maricopa Community Colleges provides educational opportunities throughout Maricopa County in Arizona. Through their 10 colleges, they offer 37 academic associate degrees and thousands of associate-level courses. To help their growing student population, Maricopa Community College has entered into a transfer agreement with University of Phoenix to assist students as they progress from obtaining an associate's degree to a bachelor's degree from University of Phoenix.
Through this scholarship program, nine (9) $2,500 scholarships will be offered. Each scholarship will be applied towards tuition and fees to assist Maricopa County Community College graduates who are enrolled in a bachelor's program at University of Phoenix. Recipients may use the scholarships to continue attending their University of Phoenix on-ground or University of Phoenix online program.

Award date: March 25, 2011 Pablo Reiter Memorial Scholarship (Oregon)
University of Phoenix is pleased to provide the Pablo Reiter Memorial Scholarship. In the fall of 2008, University of Phoenix, Oregon Campus lost a dear friend and valued employee, Paul "Pablo" Reiter. To honor his memory, the Oregon Campus established this scholarship fund as a tribute to his many contributions to the University and to the community. Pablo worked tirelessly to create a positive environment for staff and students alike, sharing his quick-witted sense of humor at every opportunity. He inspired those around him and instilled a feeling of camaraderie and cooperation among his coworkers. He passed along his passion for life by taking on any challenge, and smiling all the while. Whether surfing with his son, teaching art at the local school, or encouraging others to reach their educational goals, Pablo enjoyed being a part of life, not a bystander. The students receiving the Pablo Reiter Memorial Scholarship will carry the honor of a man who believed in education, commitment, and making the most of every day.
Through this scholarship program, two (2) $10,000 tuition scholarships will be offered to current University of Phoenix students. One scholarship will be awarded to a current undergraduate student and one scholarship will be awarded to a current master's student. Recipients will continue to attend a University of Phoenix on-ground campus or University of Phoenix online.
